Jane is a London-based trombone and low brass player who enjoys a vibrant career as a performer and an educator. She primarily works in theatre and classical music, regularly playing with London Contemporary Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Novello Orchestra, London Concert Orchestra, Multi-Story Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, Southern Pro Musica, Parallax Orchestra and many more.
This year, she has featured in the National Theatre’s production of Nye and A Knight’s Tale at the Manchester Opera House. Previous contracts – on a combination of trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, baritone and tuba – include Newsies (Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre), South Pacific (Sadler’s Wells/Tour), Legally Blonde and Carousel (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Flowers for Mrs Harris, Me & My Girl (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Barnum, She Loves Me (Menier Chocolate Factory). Deputy experience includes The Producers (current), Mary Poppins (current) the West End’s Cabaret, A Night With Janis Joplin, The King and I, Fiddler on the Roof and Pericles (RSC) Oklahoma! (CFT), Follies/Follies Revival (National Theatre).
She has performed at all major London venues and recorded at Abbey Road, AIR Studios, Angel Studios, Air Edel, RAK and Resident Studios, collaborating with artists including Daughter, Architects, The Last Dinner Party, Alter Bridge, Bring Me The Horizon and Speakers Corner Quartet. Commercial outings have taken her across Europe on many high profile events.
Always driven by her passion for performing and advocacy for her instrument, she is a proud Associate Performer for the Gender and the Large and Shiny Instruments (GALSI) and regularly tutors the low brass of the National Children’s Orchestra. She also works with Aldeburgh Young Musicians, Orchestras for All, London Music Fund, JRAM, JRCM plus outreach with Royal Opera House, London Symphony Orchestra and Academy of St Martin the Fields. She is the low brass specialist at St Paul’s Cathedral School and Highgate School.
Jane is a graduate and twice Artistic Fellow of the Guildhall School.
